“A CHRISTMAS SPECTRUM” FOR AUTISM... ABOUT AUTISM... WITH AUTISM…
A CHRISTMAS SPECTRUM was born out of a commitment to make a stand to increase Autism Awareness. What better way to carry this message than to present it through media and live performance? Here in the beautiful Okanagan Valley we, an ever growing team from all walks of life, are launching our first Christmas Musical Revue for Autism called “A CHRISTMAS SPECTRUM”. It is scheduled to premiere December 3, 2017 in Kelowna, BC at the Kelowna Community Theatre. This show will be produced by Lana Caputi, a talented and inspiring writer, director, choreographer, and actor who has dedicated 40 plus years of her life to this art form. It is through this art form that she will honour her and other’s experiences with autism. Nineteen years ago, Lana’s extended family was blessed with the birth of her nephew Justin Campbell. This is when the world of Autism came into her life and led to a journey of connection, service, understanding and enrichment… a journey that would change her life forever.
WE ASK YOU TO DREAM BIG WITH US This Spectacular Performance will consist of a medley of delightful Christmas songs featuring top Kelowna voices, along with two full choirs of adult and children, a full orchestra, an international dance ensemble with disciplines of ballet, tap, jazz, flamenco, ballroom and freestyle expression. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see an explosion of children with and without Autism filling the stage in a snow-covered scene playing, singing and dancing? Fasten your seatbelt because this is the plan… and there is more! With video clips we will journey into the lives of families living with Autism featuring several families whose documentation will bring a powerful message to the world. And finally, dramatic scenes will be performed bringing the real challenges of the world of Autism to life on stage.
A Gala and a high-end Silent Auction will frame the event. You can expect drama, laughter, enlightenment, and connection to take you on a powerful journey. This project is the first of many fundraisers with the goal of raising $1 Million for Autism. The funds will be used to specifically develop an area well needed in today’s world. The target area is between the ages of 18 and 28 where families of Autistic children come to the place of “NOW WHAT?”. Some call it the “CLIFF”. We hope to create programs and support existing programs that deliver experiential life challenges with independent living, employment and miraculous partnership, marriage and having children of their own.
